Lamb Jam 2013

Incredibly, January is almost over.  It is usually at this point, after the excitement of the holidays are over and the bleak weather drags on that people begin to feel those winter doldrums. Luckily, 2013 is proving to be a fantastic year for Boston in terms of food events, openings and the like.  In under two weeks, the Barbara Lynch Gruppo is throwing its first ever Blizzard Bash and, just a week after that, on February 17th, the Charles Hotel in Cambridge will host the Boston part of the American Lamb Board‘s Lamb Jam Tour.

For the third year in a row, chefs from all over Boston, Portland ME and Providence RI will congregate on this day to show off their expertise and skill with one America’s favorite meats…LAMB.

Beginning with an hour-long VIP session at 2:30, guests will be treated to a whole slew of different dishes prepared by the chefs competing for the Boston title as Ultimate Lamb Jam Master.  The winner will go on to compete in the Final Lamb Jam round in the fall.

Amid all the competitive fun and games, it is important to note that this amazing event will be about more than stuffing your face with every different preparation of lamb imaginable.  It is also about promoting awareness and support for local lamb in and around the Boston area.  American Lamb, in partnership with Boston Chefs, has been putting this event on nation-wide for the past three years and it is thanks to Boston’s rich history in the local production and consumption of lamb that we get to host such a spectacular ode to ewe…:)

On top of all the eating and educating, proceeds from this event will go to Lovin’ Spoonfuls, one of Boston’s favorite non-profit food redistribution organizations.
